Use & Care Instruction Sheet
Version: v1.0 (Final)
Applies to: CPR Clancy™ Adult / Child / Multi-Configuration Training Manikin
Intended Use
CPR Clancy™ is a training manikin only, designed for first aid, CPR, airway, medication, and emergency response education. It must NEVER be used for real medical treatment.
Small Parts Warning
CPR Clancy™ contains small parts and is not intended for unsupervised use by children.
Supervision Requirement
Children must not use CPR Clancy™ independently. Any training involving children must be always conducted under direct adult supervision.
Training must be conducted under the supervision of a qualified instructor.
Set-Up & Use
Assembly (Pack-Down to Training Set-Up)

CPR Clancy™ is packed down for transport into a convenient, back-care–friendly configuration.
Follow the steps below to assemble CPR Clancy™ for training:
- Remove the outer chest skin.
- Open the chest cavity completely.
- Remove the face skin and ensure the nasal training receptacle is located at the back of the face skin.
- Remove the head, which includes Clancy’s head and neck attached as one unit.
- Position the head and neck into the cavity and close the cavity around the head and neck to hold it securely in place (refer to diagram).
- Reattach the outer chest skin.
- Refit the face skin onto the head.
- To insert the single-use plastic lung/airway bag, use the clear and green introducer provided:
- Insert until you come to the green section that indicates the correct insertion depth
- Ensure the bag is not twisted or folded
- Tilt the head fully backwards while inserting the bag to ensure smooth placement.
CPR Clancy™ is now assembled and ready for training.
Chest Compressions
- Place hands in the centre of the chest
- Compress straight down with locked arms
- Audible feedback indicates adequate compression depth
- Avoid angled or off-centered compressions to prevent incorrect feedback and premature wear.
Compression Mode Selector & Lock Mechanism
- Rotate the green selector dial on the back of CPR Clancy™ to select the appropriate mode:
- Adult
- Child
- Ensure the dial is fully engaged in the selected position before commencing training
Lock Mechanism (Storage & Transport)
The lock position is designed to protect the manikin during storage and transport. Always engage the lock mechanism before packing CPR Clancy™ back into its carry bag or case.
Airway & Ventilations
CPR Clancy™ supports: - Head tilt and chin lift - Jaw positioning - Mouth-to-mask ventilation - Bag-valve-mask (BVM) ventilation - Guedel (oropharyngeal) airway insertion - Asthma placebo inhaler training
Important
When inserting a Guedel airway, using asthma placebo devices, or conducting any airway training, ensure a clean, single-use plastic lung/airway bag is correctly installed prior to use.
Visible chest rise confirms correct airway positioning.
If chest rise does not occur: - Re-position the head - Check lung placement - Replace the lung/airway bag if moist or damaged
Hygiene & Infection Control
During Training
- Each student will use their own new single-use plastic lung/airway bag for hygiene and infection control
Cleaning After Use
Skin components (face skin and chest skin): - Clean using warm water and a mild detergent only (e.g. washing-up liquid) - Rinse thoroughly with clean water - Allow to air-dry completely before reusing
DO NOT USE: - Harsh or abrasive cleaners - Scouring pads or brushes - Bleach or chlorine-based products - Acetone - Antiseptic wipes - Disinfectants - Solvents or alcohol-based cleaners on skins - Oil-based or citrus cleaners
These products may damage materials and reduce product life.
Face Skin
- Remove after each training session
- Wash separately using mild detergent only
- Air-dry completely before reuse
Nasal Cavity (Midazolam & CSF Leak Training)
- The nasal cavity insert is used for intranasal midazolam training and CSF leak simulation using fake blood and water
- The nasal cavity insert must be removed after each training session
- Wash using warm water and mild detergent only
- Rinse thoroughly to remove all residue (including fake blood or fluids)
- Allow to air-dry completely
- Once fully dry, reinsert the nasal cavity into the face skin before the next session
Failure to remove and clean the nasal cavity insert after use may result in hygiene issues, residue build-up, and reduced component life.
Ear Cavities (Foreign Body & CSF Leak Training)
- CPR Clancy™ includes ear cavities designed for foreign body (e.g. insect/bug) wash-out training and CSF leak demonstration
- After each training session, the ear cavities must be thoroughly cleaned and dried
- Clean using warm water and a mild detergent only
- Rinse thoroughly to remove all debris, fake blood, or fluids
- Allow ear cavities to air-dry completely before further use or storage
Do not use harsh cleaners, disinfectants, antiseptic wipes, solvents, or abrasive materials on ear cavities, as these may damage internal components or materials.
Abdominal & Chest Wound Simulation Cavities
- CPR Clancy™ includes abdominal and chest cavity wound simulation areas for gunshot wounds, foreign objects, impalement, and stabbing scenarios
- When simulating bleeding or fluid loss, the CPR Clancy plastic liner/bag and gloves MUST be used for hygiene and safety
- The plastic bag must be removed after each training session and disposed of safely
- When removing the outer skin for cleaning, ensure all wound cavities are clean and completely dry
- If soiled, clean cavities using warm water and a mild detergent only
- Rinse thoroughly and allow all components to air-dry completely before reassembly and storage
Failure to use the provided plastic bag or to clean and dry wound cavities after use may result in hygiene issues, residue build-up, and reduced component life.
Care & Maintenance
- Inspect CPR Clancy™ regularly for wear, damage, or moisture
- Keep the internal cavity clean and dry to help prevent mold or mildew
- The cavity may be cleaned using warm water and a mild detergent only
- ALWAYS ensure all components are completely dry before packing the manikin away
- Check compression feedback before each training session
- Ensure the head and neck move freely
- Store CPR Clancy™ in the carry bag provided when not in use
Storage
- Store CPR Clancy™ in the carry bag when not in use
- Remove the head for long-term storage
- Store in a cool, dry environment away from direct sunlight
- Never leave CPR Clancy™ in direct sunlight, inside vehicles, trailers, or enclosed spaces, or in environments where temperatures may fall below or rise above normal indoor ambient conditions.
- Exposure to temperature extremes, rapid temperature changes, or fluctuating environmental conditions — even for short periods — may cause material embrittlement, softening, warping, cracking, loss of elasticity, adhesive failure, or internal component damage. These effects may occur without visible warning.
- Damage resulting from heat exposure, cold exposure, environmental conditions, or improper storage or transport is not covered under warranty.
Important Notes
- Use only CPR Clancy™ approved parts and accessories
- Do not modify or alter the manikin
- Damage caused by misuse, incorrect cleaning, or unauthorised modification is not covered by warranty
